The Makita XDT19 is Makita’s 18V LXT brushless impact driver. Makita rates it at up to 3,600 RPM and 1,590 in-lbs of torque. Here is what its modes and settings actually do.
Quick-Shift Mode
Quick-Shift Mode uses the motor’s electronics to balance speed and torque for whatever you are driving.
4-speed power selector
There are four power settings: 0-1,100, 0-2,100, 0-3,200, and 0-3,600 RPM, with impact rates of 0-1,100, 0-2,600, 0-3,600, and 0-3,800 IPM. There is also a second one-touch speed button under the chuck.
Assist Mode
Assist Mode (A-mode) runs at low speed until the screw starts to tighten. That helps keep the bit from camming out and the screw from cross threading.
Where to buy
If you are deciding between Makita impact drivers, see how the XDT13Z, XDT14Z, and XDT16Z did in my timed test.
